The
next few verses reveal something of the operation of the kingdom when
it becomes operational, after Jesus' return to His kingdom and then
shortly thereafter He returns on the day of Pentecost as promised in
Joel, as our comforter.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, Verily I say to you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
When His disciples heard this, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Then answered Peter asking Him, Behold, we have forsaken all, to follow you; what shall we that have therefore do? To this Jesus said, Verily I say to you, That you which follow Me when, in the regeneration, through which the Son of man shall sit on the throne of His glory, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that has forsaken (ALL) houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many first shall be last; and the last first.*
*This is placing those of the regeneration in reverse order, because those raised last then become the first and those who have been the first are now the last. Just like those who were hired first received the same wages at the end of the day of labor as those who were hired last.
Matthew 20:1-16 For the kingdom of heaven is like to a man an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, said to them; Go you also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and said to them, Why stand you here all the day idle? They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He said to them, Go you also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, shall ye receive. So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last to the first. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. And when they had received it, they murmured against the good-man of the house, saying, These last have worked but one hour, and you have made them equal to us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. He answered them, and said, Friend, I do you no wrong: did you not agree with me for a penny? Take that which is yours, and go your way: I will give to this last, even as to you. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Is your eye evil, because I am good? So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.* (parallel passages Matthew 13:24-30, 21:28-32, 33-46)
*I could say, have chosen to do as the Lord requires of us. Within this passage is also stated the having of an evil eye, a eye of deception because mans perception is wrong. Which only serves to strengthen what I have already stated about the paralysis which mans Religion brings to us in the form of poison, the sting of a scorpion or a spider and even an asp or viper. Because Jesus, the anointed, as the Christ of God, in His vicarious death defeated the enemy within our soul, yes within us. And has risen victoriously within those who choose Him over their own self. This does not mean that we will not have to wage a battle or war, of sorts, against the enemy, who's head has been bruised, because his seat remains within our flesh. It is the flesh that remains in subjection of the outward influences of this worlds evils. But our soul once restored to God is equipped to discern properly between what is Truth and what is evil.
