The Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God

The following passages take place after Jesus' finished crucifixion around 3 PM on that faithful afternoon, before the setting of the days sun. Because according to Jewish rule and custom all those hung were to be buried before the sun set that very day, as seen in and in accord with Deuteronomy 21:21-23, after the person was first stoned to death, he was to have been hung until shortly before sunset. This was to have been done as a witness to the evil of this person's conduct and a warning for all others. In Jesus' case He was beaten and wiped in place of stoning and as a double measure He had placed, pushed into His flesh the curse of the ground, the thorns fashioned as a wreath or crown of athletic victory. This crown was a symbol of the displacement of Israel's not being the head and but the tail, as it had become.

Mark 15:42-47 When the even was come, because it was the day of preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, Joseph of Arimathaea, an honorable counselor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly to Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. Pilate marveled if he were already dead: and calling to him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. When he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. And Joseph bought fine linen, and took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen, and laid Him in a sepulcher which was hewn (cut) out of a rock, and rolled a stone over the door of the sepulcher. And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where He was laid.

The following takes place in the synagogue of the Jews in Nazareth where Jesus as the promised Messiah was rejected openly. Israel's leaders did not know Him as the promised seed of woman, not of the promised seed of Abraham and Isaac, let alone the prophet who would come in the likeness of Moses. I will pick it up after His speaking about the prophet Elijah and the works that he had done. After quoting from Isaiah 61:1 and including the first part and cutting short the fullness of verse 2 because it spoke of judgment and then told those present that this passage was now fulfilled in their hearing. Meaning that it spoke of Him.

Luke 4:28-37, 38-39, 40-41, 42-44 All they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up, and thrust Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast Him down headlong. But He passed through the midst of them and went His way, and came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. They were astonished at His doctrine: for His word was with power. In the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? are You come to destroy us? I know who You are; the Holy One of God. Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold your peace, and come out of him*. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. And they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power He commanded the unclean spirits, and they come out. And the fame of Him went out into every place of the country round about. (parallel passages Matthew 13:53-58, Mark 6:1-6)
*Jesus here demonstrated His power over unclean spirits as the promised Prince of Peace, as both a lesson and demonstration of just Who He is. Within each of His healing miracles is found a revealed truth of who He is and each also teach us a message, if we will but listen to His words and actions.

He arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought Him for her. He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered to them.

When the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them, and healed them. And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, You are Christ, the Son of God. And He rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that He was Christ. (parallel passages Matthew 8:14-17, Mark 1:29-34)

When it was day, He departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought Him, and came to Him, and stayed with Him, that He should not depart from them. He said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. He preached in the synagogues of Galilee. (parallel passage Mark 1:35-39)
